Aw yeah, end chapter. I guess that wasn’t very exciting. The next chapter has an explosion, though. Pinky swear. In other news, I survived all my deadlines intact and, far more importantly, managed to stay on top of the comic updates. I’m feeling good about the next scene too, we’re off to sunny, sunny Imara for a change of pace.

New vote incentive, just a cruddy painting I did while recovering from deadlines. I was pretty fuzzy, so it’s just a painting of Adrianna’s face. It is the epitome of “I can’t think of anything to draw”.

TWC reset yesterday, so if you were thinking about voting, now would be a super awesome time to do so. Unfortunately it’s deadline week for me at university right now, so I’m digging up old art for incentives. Sue me. Anyway, the incentive is an old concept sketch for a scene that won’t be coming up for a while, but I’m totally chomping at the bit to draw.

I think I’m finally ready to settle on this style for the comic – it only took almost the entirety of the first chapter. Looks like super-fine inking is the way to go, even if it’s a bit more time-consuming and I hate inking with a fiery passion. It just looks nicer with the cel-shading. Sorry for all the random art-flailing, but I suspect I’m just going to keep trying out different things with the art as the comic goes on, though hopefully a bit more subtly than this scene has ended up. What a mish-mash.

Hooray, a highlight colour that isn’t orange. A few more pages and this scene should be over, and we’ll be off to sunnier climes.

The vote incentive is the inking for this page, which I’ve been trying to improve over the last few updates.

It’s page 15, and you know what that means! That’s right, I’m a quarter of the way to Baconnaise. Also, goodbye grumbly television.

The new vote incentive is another quick painting I did of a forest scene. Obviously I should have set this entire scene in a forest rather than inside a dingy flat. I also added some google ads to the site just for the hell of it. Since Red Moon Rising is also the name of an EVE Online expansion, they’re mainly EVE-related ads. Which I can dig. EVE is cool.

Ooh, burn.

I haven’t decided what to do about the font yet, though I suspect I’ll probably just end up making my own (a la yourfonts.com) eventually. In the meantime, sticking with Gill Sans. The new vote incentive is another character sketch, though not a main character. Just someone who’s disproportionately important to the amount of screen time she has in the actual comic.

ANGRY FACES

I’m not sure I’m that fond of the current dialogue font (Gill Sans). Any suggestions for a replacement, people? Also, I dropped another layer of shading over the middle panel of Lethe’s face there. As loathe as I am to add extra layers of complexity, I think it turned out quite nice and only took an extra ten minutes at most. The colouring only takes a couple of hours anyway, the sketching and inking is the real timesink, believe it or not.
