People Staring Angrily at Each Other: the Comic!

I did a bit of fiddling with the speech bubbles for this page, I think having them pure white was a little distracting. I’ll go back and fix the previous pages when I get half a chance.

I’m still casting about for input on RMR’s potential Patreon campaign! There’s more details about it in the previous post, but if you have any notions of what you’d like to see as a patron, please feel free to leave a comment.

Wow. Lots has happened while I wasn’t there O.o” I feel a bit bad for missing all of it…
As for the Paetron: I think all your suggestions sound pretty good. Personally, I would totally love to get to know the “behind the scenes” a bit. For example… When did you first think of this story? Why? What do you think about it’s meaning? What is your relationship to the characters you create? How do you create them? Are there real people you are inspired by? How do you do your worldbuilding? etc.
But that is just me. I like this kind of thing. Also, it might lead to me learning something ;) And, not to forget, usually with a piece of art you get either the artist’s interpretation or you have to interpret it yourself and will never know how right or wrong you are. A chance to have a real discussion would be awesome.

As for the actual donation… I don’t know. I really want to and I think it is a great idea, but I don’t know if I can afford it. For me, it’s easier to save money for a while and then spend a chunk of it, instead of always giving a little. It’s… more predictable?

Well. I agee with Diana. I find it great that you think of us readers so much and want to remove the ads. Thank you for all the thought and time and hard work you put into this project. I appreciate it very much!

Please don’t worry about not being able to afford a donation. I fully appreciate having tenuous finances – I’m on an artist’s salary, after all. :)

The comic will remain free and you’ll see the benefits of other people donating regardless (the removal of ads and potentially more updates if things go particularly well) so my advice to anyone who’s not sure about if they can afford it is to hold on to your money. The comic will always be here, and I’m more than happy to have you as readers either way.

As for behind the scenes stuff, Patreon offers the option of having an activity stream, which would be a place where I could post up extra content (sketches from pages and what not) and also be available for the kind of questions you laid out. That would be available at the most basic level of support, so all patrons would have access to it at the level of $1 per page.

Having said that, I’m not exactly prepared to put myself behind a paywall and never answer another questions from anyone who isn’t a patron. I’m always happy to have a chat down here in the comments, and feel free to email me as well. I don’t bite!

I could probably write a very long essay on just the questions you asked here (they cover a lot of ground!) and I badly need to get back to work, but if you can pare it down at all I’d be happy to try and bang out a response.

Invitation to Dakaia? After our last meeting with His Most Effervescent Yet Rather Shady Triarch Ezius, allow me to paraphrase the immortal words of Admiral Ackbar:

It’s (sounding suspiciously like) a trap.

Hmm, so this doesn’t have anything to do with Danil. Of course, why would the Imarans announce his death? Hmmmm, but what could this order have to do with what Adrianna’s just been through? Maybe the Imarans have drawn a connection between Sai’s death and Sam’s ship being in disrepair on Imaran territory…? Am I getting all these names right, by the way? ;___;

Well, actually… I guess you’ll see in tomorrow’s update.

A couple of things though, Sai isn’t dead and Sam’s ship isn’t technically on Imaran soil, it’s in Rishara Caan uncomfortably close to the border. Here’s the exact location for reference, and here’s where Dakaia is in comparison.

Sorry for all the confusing names. D:
